Schweikert (R-WA) on U.S. borrowing $98.3k per second: On US demographics, “We know it is coming. It is not a black swan. It is what they nicknamed a white swan. It means you see it and you still don't do anything about it” • US debt interest is modeled to be $1.076 trillion in FY 2024 • suggests a “wearable” health monitor to “get data off you for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week” as possibly “a way to take down the debt” largely caused by health care costs — Editor note: $34,578,032,221,509.83 is the U.S. national Debt to the Penny as of 3/21/2024. When that comes due, there is going to be immense pressure to get out from under that debt. Even if 24/7 health monitoring isn't mandated, it could easily become a requirement for the government to pay for health care costs, even for people who have already “paid in” to Medicare.

Executive — Committees: House, Senate

Speaker Johnson: Biden’s Anti-Energy Crusade Must End

Manchin praises Biden on energy

Fischer on Electric Vehicles: The manufacturing of EVs produces at least 60 percent more carbon emissions than that of gas-powered cars. • an electric car emitted about a quarter more particulate matter than to a hybrid car because of tire wear. • A Consumer Reports survey found that new EVs have 79 percent more problems than internal combustion cars. • Electric vehicle charging stations malfunction … one in five charging sessions at public stations failed to deliver any charge at all. • They make electric vehicles 30 percent heavier, on average, than gas-powered cars. … Because they are so heavy, electric vehicles crash with up to 50 percent more impact, smashing through and destroying roadside barriers. Our current safety infrastructure can't stop an EV, and that is a major problem—especially for other drivers. • EVs pose special risks to first responders … Their batteries contain so much energy that any contact with fire can cause them to explode. … can reignite a fire in a battery even after it has been put out. One fire chief described an EV fire as a “trick candle.” • The EV industry is effectively run by the Chinese Communist Party. … Afghanistan is home to large lithium reserves, one of the minerals essential for EV batteries. With the United States out of the picture, Chinese mining companies have flooded Afghanistan. • These so-called “clean” cars use dirty manufacturing methods. … The massive demand for cobalt only encourages that industry to keep using inhumane and environmentally irresponsible mining methods. … This phenomenon stretches across Africa into Asia. • Biden finalizes crackdown on gas cars, forcing more than half of new car sales to be electric by 2030McConnell: The EPA's new emissions standards are so stringent that they would require electric vehicles make up two of every three vehicles on the consumer market within 8 years, regardless of whether charging infrastructure is ever available.Barrasso: President Biden seems to want to regulate every room in the house of the American people. He started in the kitchen with our stoves, continued throughout the house, and now he is headed to the garage.Manchin slams Biden for ‘reckless’ EV mandate telling people ‘what kind of car’ they can haveManchin: The administration's electric vehicle policy has been held completely captive by the activist environmental groups and the radical advisers in the White House.
