Administration Backs Food Distribution Program

Daughter-in-chief: Ivanka Trump pushes food distribution program

The U.S. Agriculture Department is unveiling a new food distribution program with an emphasis on aiding small businesses - an issue that is being pushed by a very prominent White House adviser.

Under the "Farmers to Families Food Box Program," the federal government buys meat, produce and dairy products from farmers and ranchers, then provides it to local distribution centers that pack and deliver food boxes to those in need.

It "really creates a virtuous cycle," Ivanka Trump told USA TODAY in an interview, citing a "robust demand" from food producers, consumers, and "the most vulnerable in these challenging times."

Trump and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, who also participated in the interview, said the program will also address gaps in the food supply chain spawned by the coronavirus.

"There was a mis-allocation of supply and demand, temporarily," Perdue said.

Trump, who called UPS chief executive David Abney about volunteering trucks to make food box deliveries, said she and others are "pulling all the levers" they can. And, no, the last name doesn't hurt.

"I think when you work in the White House, you tend to have your calls returned," Trump said. "And I think most Americans are patriots and want to answer the call to action when things are requested of them."

She added: "I'm not shy about asking people to step up to the plate. The whole country needs to be galvanized in the effort, both to combat this deadly virus, but also to rebuild . . . to rebuild our economy as we emerge."

The Agriculture Department has already awarded $1.2 billion to food distributors to buy meat, dairy and produce products that farmers have been unable to sell because of government lockdowns.

The distributors will pack the food into boxes for delivery to food banks, community and non-profits that have had trouble getting food because of problems with the supply chain.

"We'll be up to $3 billion in total as it rolls out," she said. (USA Today) Read more.

- Father God, we rejoice to learn of the launch of the "Farmers to Families Food Box Program." Lord God, we understand from other sources that food banks across our nation, in all 50 states, will be actively involved in this initiative, sponsored by local churches.

Lord God, we thank You for this breakthrough, with the churches actively partnering with our federal government to meet the increasingly desperate needs of our people. We ask that any obstacle to the successful completion of this mission be removed, so that all of our needs can, indeed, be met. In Your Name, amen.

"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." (Exodus 22:30)

Dershowitz: Impeach Sullivan

Dershowitz: Impeach Sullivan?

Dear Friends,

Last Friday night (May 8th), Professor Alan Dershowitz - who taught criminal law at Harvard Law School for fifty years - said that if Judge Sullivan in the Flynn case "has the gall to not throw this out, he ought to be impeached."

Amen!

Here's the full quote:

"I taught criminal law at Harvard Law School for fifty years. I taught ten thousand students, and for fifty years I taught that this kind of abuse by the Justice Department, by the FBI, by individuals - look the Justice Department is great, the FBI great - but the abuse that we see here is something I've been railing against for fifty years. Every civil libertarian should be applauding the decision by Attorney General Barr to throw this out, and if this judge has the gall to not throw this out, he ought to be impeached. Remember that judges only have jurisdiction for cases and controversies. There's no controversy here. Both sides agree the case ought to be dismissed. This judge has no power to do anything else and if he asserts that power, he has violated the Constitution."

Alan Dershowitz, Hannity, Fox News, interview from 22:37-23:27, Friday May 8, 2020.

To view this interview, go here.

Dershowitz is one hundred percent constitutionally correct. Article III gives judges the power only to decide "cases" and "controversies." A "case" requires two opposing parties and that no longer exists in General Flynn's case. The only two parties to the case - the prosecutor and the defendant - agree the case should be dismissed. The judge is not a party and, therefore, has no authority to act as one.

Furthermore, when the constitution refers to "controversies" that does not include ones stirred up by the media or ex-Presidents. A legal "controversy" under Article III is one that exists in a courtroom between two legal parties. Public "smack talk" does not qualify.

So, constitutionally speaking, the Flynn case must be dismissed, and in the words of "The Dersh," if Judge Sullivan refuses to do so, then he "ought to be impeached."

Respectfully,
Phillip L. Jauregui

A Message from NDP

Giving Thanks and Praising His Glorious Name

- National Day of Prayer Task Force

1 Chronicles 29: 11-13 "Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name."

"Thank you!" This has been my two word prayer over and over again since last week's National Day of Prayer gatherings. I cannot stop thanking and praising God for all that He did to express His glory, and gather us together last week. Tuesday night found us on National Day of Prayer Task Force Facebook Live, as we prepared for the week in prayer and worship with Mandisa and her band. Her testimony of the power of prayer and their worship-filled songs turned our hearts towards heaven and our attention to Thursday's National Day of Prayer. Thank you Mandisa, and thank you to everyone who watched and worshipped with us!

Thursday was filled with prayer gatherings hosted by our NDP coordinators virtually and in person. Prayer partners were able to join multiple events throughout the day this year. We have received stories of people who, "prayed their way through the day - and across the nation." Thank you!

. . . Please join us in continuing to give God thanks and praise and glory for our NDP gatherings and KEEP PRAYING! Remember we pray EVERY day, not just on the First Thursday of May. Let's pray together again right now.

"Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing Your people together to pray together on the National Day of Prayer in the celebration and culmination of our prayers throughout the year. Thank You that we live in a nation that has a law for our President to call our nation to a day of prayer for our nation. Please prompt us to pray every day for America and all people and nations to know You as their Lord and Savior. Bring the people on the frontlines sustaining and preserving life as well as those in families, church, business, education, military, government, arts, entertainment and media. We continue to pray and watch Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea."

Serving Him with Gladness,

Kathy Branzell
President

House Floor

House Floor Schedule

From the floor colloquy:

Madam Speaker, Members are advised that no votes are expected in the House next week.

Members are further advised that the House will be in session on Wednesday, May 27, and May 28.

As everyone knows, the Senate has amended the House-passed FISA bill, a very important piece of legislation that will require the House to act again. I expect that to be considered on the 27th.

I also expect conversations to continue on additional legislation addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. The House could vote on COVID-19- related bills on May 27 and 28.

I am pleased that the House has adopted a resolution to allow the committees to work remotely. I look forward to getting our committees back up and running so they can begin having hearings and markups on critical legislation.

Clearly, the House, as it moves forward, needs product.

I have talked to the appropriators.

I know that the WRDA bill is also a bill that we are looking at moving forward.

The National Defense Authorization Act is a bill that we want to see marked up. I talked to Mr. Smith tonight so, hopefully, we will be moving ahead, getting product, and we will be considering that.

We have adopted some rules, not only for committees but for the floor, that will facilitate not only working on legislation but also the safety of our Members and staff.

As the gentleman knows, we have a number of must-pass bills that I have just mentioned. I think I did not mention the surface transportation bill, but I did mention WRDA. As committees begin consideration of these bills, I will be in touch with Members about when they will be scheduled.

Beyond May 27 and May 28, I want all Members to know that they will be given 72 hours' notice of when they would need to be returning to Washington, D.C., for any additional votes.

I would simply say one of the reasons that we are not meeting next week, we are going to give the staff, not only of the committees but of the House, the opportunity to determine exactly how the new rules can be carried out—not in any way to adversely affect either our Republican side of the aisle or the Democratic side of the aisle—and to reflect accurately the votes of Members, whether they are able to get to Washington during this pandemic or not.

...at the pro forma session on Tuesday, we will swear in the two new Members.

Full floor colloquy on the schedule “for the weeks to come”

House Democrats Pass $3 Trillion Relief Package

House Democrats pass $3 trillion coronavirus relief package - CNBC

House Democrats on Friday passed a $3 trillion coronavirus relief package, unprecedented spending Senate Republicans have pledged to block as the major parties struggle to find a path forward on the pandemic response.

The chamber also approved voting by proxy and remote committee work. The rules changes, major moves for a tradition-bound institution, aim to make it easier for representatives to conduct business from outside of Washington during the crisis.

The House passed the rescue legislation in a close 208-199 vote, as Democrats saw defections from both the left and right flanks of the party. Fourteen Democrats voted against the bill and one Republican supported it.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made it clear he has no interest in taking up the proposal. On Thursday, he said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "published an 1,800-page seasonal catalog of left-wing oddities and called it a coronavirus relief bill." The White House threatened to veto the legislation before the House voted. (Read more)

- Father God, our friends on the Hill have advised us that there is no way Senator Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, will pick up this bill when it reaches the Senate floor. We ask that You strengthen their hands so that, indeed, this monstrous bill, with its many socialist features embedded inside it, will not see the light of day in the Senate Chamber. Thank You, Father God, for hearing our prayer, in Your name, amen and amen.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Once each week, on Sunday mornings and for 24 hours, join with others in OPERATION RESTORATION . . .

crosssunset.jpg

"Operation Restoration"

This initiative is based upon the Move of the Spirit that was launched last month during Operation Refiner's Fire. The LORD has shown us that He has used those fires to ignite the FIRE of the HOLY SPIRIT to visit our people, which He now yearns to keep burning among our people until the day of His return!

"Operation Restoration" is based on the promise of Scripture, recorded in
2 Chronicles 7:14,15.

It is written:

. . . "and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

"Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place."

This is a weekly Solemn Assembly, where saints can feel free to gather each Sunday, to offer prayers of repentance before our Lord, for the many sins our nation has committed before Him.

Abba so desires to hear our prayers . . . He is just waiting to heal us!

You can join us, any Sunday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST by calling:

712-770-5350
Access Code: 150411#

Each week, our conference line for Operation Restoration will remain open until Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.EST -- allowing for 24 hours of nonstop prayer before our King of Kings, that He might, indeed, "heal our land." Amen.
