The Daily Brief
1. Confirmed coronavirus cases hit 1 million worldwide - CNET
The number of cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the newly identified coronavirus, has hit 1 million worldwide, according to tracking numbers from Johns Hopkins University. The US has the highest number of cases, at around 236,000. Italy, Spain and Germany follow.
President Donald Trump on Thursday invoked the Defense Production Act to ensure that manufacturers such as General Electric, Hill-Rom, ResMed and Royal Philips can "secure the supplies they need to build ventilators needed to defeat the virus." Meanwhile, companies like Apple have donated millions of face masks to medical workers to help curb a shortage, while Boeing has said it'll make thousands of plastic face shields each week and provide planes to carry supplies, according to Trump. (Read more)- Father, concerning our covenant of protection from disease, we stand on Psalm 91:10. We are protected from all effects of Covid-19. We take authority in Christ over that disease right now! Thank you, Lord for our protection.
- There shall no evil befall us, neither shall any plague come near our dwelling.
(Psalm 91:10)
2. US jobless claims skyrocket to 6.6 million, doubling last week's record, as coronavirus layoffs persist - Markets Insider
A record number of Americans filed for unemployment benefits for a second straight week as a nationwide coronavirus lockdown continues to force layoffs.
US weekly jobless claims jumped to 6.64 million in the week ending March 28, the Labor Department reported Thursday. That outpaces the prior week's report, which already reflected a filings more than quadruple the previous record.
"It's remarkable," Bank of America economist Joseph Song told Business Insider. "These are unprecedented numbers, but we're also facing an unprecedented pandemic," he said, adding that the report is consistent with the strict containment measures seen around the US to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The report shows further damage to the US economy just days after unemployment claims spiked to a then-record high of 3.28 million for the week ending March 21. In total, more than 10 million Americans have filed for unemployment over two weeks. (Read more)- Father, concerning our covenant of provision, we stand on Philippians 4:19. We believe together that God is the Source of everything we need during this time. He is our Provider and Supplier. Thank you, Lord for supplying everything we need.
- But our God shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
3. Trump eyes paying hospitals directly for treating uninsured coronavirus patients - Washington Examiner
President Trump said Thursday that the government would pay hospitals directly for caring for coronavirus patients rather than reopening the Obamacare exchanges.
"We are going to try to get them a cash payment because just opening it up doesn't help as much," Trump said during the White House press briefing. Vice President Mike Pence said the administration was considering directing some of the $100 billion allocated to hospitals as part of the economic recovery package recently signed by the president to pay hospitals for any coronavirus treatment for people without insurance. (Read more)- Thank you father God for the generous heart you have given Donald Trump. Thank you for his heart for the American people, no matter which party they belong to, no matter their color, creed, religion. We are all one as Americans and thank you for helping those in need during this time.
- "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." (John 15:12)
4. White House likely to advise people in coronavirus hot spots to wear masks - Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House is expected to issue guidance for people in areas hard hit by the coronavirus to wear face coverings to help stop the spread of the disease, an administration official said on Thursday.
The announcement was not planned for Thursday, the official said, and would be targeted at areas with high community transmission of the coronavirus. The administration has gone back and forth on whether to advise Americans to wear face masks. At the beginning of the pandemic officials encouraged people not to do so if they weren't already sick, but they have been shifting away from that guidance and studying new policies in recent days. (Read more)- Father God we ask that you continue to lead and guide President Trump and his task force in the best ways possible to deal with this virus. Block out bad advice and deceitful voices that may try to manipulate him into many different directions. Let your voice be the loudest voice he hears in the room when making decisions. In Jesus name amen.
- "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (Isaiah 30:21)
5. Pastors sue to stop Texas judge's stay-at-home order prohibiting church gatherings - Christian Post
Pastors are suing a Texas county judge over a stay-at-home order that they believe violates their religious freedom right to continue holding church services. Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott clarified that churches can open during the coronavirus pandemic as "essential services."
A petition to the Texas Supreme Court on Monday was filed by Houston attorney Jared Woodfill on behalf of three local pastors and conservative activist Steve Hotze, the CEO of Conservative Republicans of Texas. The petition seeks to stop an order by elected Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo enacted last month that instructs county residents to stay in their homes except for essential travel to the grocery store and when commuting to work for essential employees. The order required all nonessential businesses to close, including churches.
"Realtors and those similarly situated are having their constitutional rights and the constitutional rights of their congregants continuously infringed upon as long as Judge Hidalgo's Order is allowed to stay in place," the legal filing reads. (Read more)- Father, we pray wisdom upon each Pastor regarding their congregation. Give each one direction and strategies on how to continue to minister to their congregation during this time.
- Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (Colossians 4:5-6)
6. Trump: 'My Biggest Disappointment' Is that Churches 'Can't Meet' during Pandemic - Christian Headlines
President Trump on Wednesday said his "single biggest disappointment" is that churches can't meet during the COVID-19 pandemic and indicated it's one reason he considered opening the country before Easter.
Although there is no federal policy governing churches meeting during the pandemic, the White House's Coronavirus Guidelines urge Americans to "avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people." Vice President Mike Pence previously said the coronavirus is three times more contagious than the flu.
"My biggest disappointment is that churches can't meet in a time of need," Trump said, adding that times of need traditionally are "a great time for churches to be together for people."
"And yet if you do that . . . you're really giving this invisible enemy a very big advantage," Trump said. (Read more)- Father God we pray that you will give your people comfort during this time. Reveal to us in new ways your love, your grace, and a new understanding of the beautiful sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
- "So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."(Hebrews 9:28 )
7. USS Theodore Roosevelt commanding officer relieved of duty, acting Navy secretary announces - Fox News
Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly announced Thursday that the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, now docked in Guam, was relieved "at my direction."
Navy Capt. Brett Crozier, the carrier's commander, was sacked after he was accused of leaking a letter to the media that went "outside the chain of command" pleading for help after more than 100 sailors on board tested positive for the coronavirus, and nearly 100 others are suspected of contracting the virus.
Modly said: "This decision is not one of retribution." "I did not come to this decision lightly," he said. "I have no doubt in my mind [Captain] Crozier did what he thought was in the best interest [of] the safety and well being of his crew. Unfortunately, he did the opposite."
"It unnecessarily raised alarms with the families of our sailors and Marines with no plan to address those concerns," Modley continued. "It raised concerns about the operational security and operational capability of that ship that could have emboldened our adversaries to seek advantage and it undermined the chain of command." (Read more)- Father God we lift this commanding officer up to you and pray that you would encourage him and uplift him in this time. Whatever the true cause is of the Navy releasing him we just ask father that you would reveal yourself to him and that he would come to know you and be blessed on his future endeavors.
- Deuteronomy 4:29 "But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul."
8. Trump warns against 'partisan investigations' after Pelosi establishes select committee on virus response - The Hill
President Trump on Thursday railed against "partisan investigations" and "witch hunts" amid the coronavirus pandemic after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) established a special House committee to examine the federal response to the pandemic.
"I want to remind everyone here in our nation's capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics," Trump said, reading from prepared remarks. "Endless partisan investigations have already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years."
"It's witch hunt, after witch hunt, after witch hunt. It's not any time for witch hunts, it's time to get this enemy defeated," he continued. "Conducting these partisan investigations in the middle of a pandemic is a really big waste of vital resources,Congress Last Week
Trump did not explicitly mention Pelosi or a particular investigation, but the remarks appeared to be a warning shot in response to the Speaker creating a special committee "to examine all aspects of the federal response to the coronavirus and ensure the taxpayer's dollars are being wisely and efficiently spent."
Pelosi's announcement came a day after Democratic lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday introduced legislation that would create an independent commission tasked with producing a "full and complete accounting of the nation's preparedness and response" to the coronavirus. Pelosi tapped Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.), the Democratic whip, to lead the bipartisan panel. (Read more)- In the name of Jesus we say no to these evil plots, plans and schemes to investigate Donald Trump AGAIN during this vulnerable time in America. We say no to more wasteful spending, more media drama, more division and confusion that will come as a result of these phony investigations. We declare that no weapon formed against Trump in this ministration will prosper in Jesus name amen.
- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment. You shall condemn." (Isaiah 54:17)
9. Trump campaign tells Sessions to stop promoting himself as Trump ally -Reuters
President Donald Trump's presidential campaign told Senate Republican candidate Jeff Sessions on Thursday to stop promoting himself as a Trump ally, lashing out at the former U.S. attorney general, whom the president soured on.
"We only assume your campaign is doing this to confuse President Trump's loyal supporters in Alabama into believing the president supports your candidacy in the upcoming primary run-off election. Nothing could be further from the truth," Trump re-election campaign chief operating officer Michael Glassner said in a letter to Sessions, a U.S. senator from Alabama before he became attorney general.
. . . The Trump campaign took issue with a direct mail item in which Sessions states his support for Trump. "The letter even makes the delusional assertion that you are President "Trump's #1 Supporter," said Glassner. "President Trump and his campaign do not support your efforts to return to the U.S. Senate. We demand that you and your campaign immediately stop circulating mailers - or any other similar communication - that wrongly suggest otherwise," he said. (Read more)- Father, we pray Jeff Sessions will honor this letter sent by the Trump campaign. We pray wisdom on Jeff Sessions that he would change direction in his campaign and use a different strategy.
- Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. (Proverbs 13:10)
10. Democratic National Convention postponed to August due to the coronavirus - Business Insider
The Democratic Party announced on Thursday that it will postpone the Democratic National Convention to the week of August 17 because of the coronavirus. It was originally scheduled to take place in July.
"In our current climate of uncertainty, we believe the smartest approach is to take additional time to monitor how this situation unfolds so we can best position our party for a safe and successful convention," Joe Solmonese, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said in a statement.
He added, "During this critical time, when the scope and scale of the pandemic and its impact remain unknown, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of health care professionals and emergency responders."
The previous day, former Vice President Joe Biden called for the convention to be delayed until August. He currently leads the delegate count in the 2020 Democratic primary, ahead of the only other remaining contender, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. "I doubt whether the Democratic convention is going to be able to be held in mid-July, early July," Biden said on The Tonight Show. "I think it's going to have to move into August." (Read more)
- Thank you, Father for this decision by the DNC to postpone their convention until August. We declare Covid-19 ends sooner than expected, and during this time we pray You reveal Yourself to the leaders of the DNC and Joe Biden. Your kindness leads us to repentance.
- "So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?" (Romans 2:3-4)
11. Immunologist says he has a possible cure for the coronavirus - Fox News
Distributed Bio co-founder and CEO Dr. Jacob Glanville joined "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Friday to talk about his company's laboratory engineering a therapeutic antibody to combat the coronavirus. "So what we have done is we've engineered neutralizing antibodies that go and block the virus. The coronavirus, if you were to zoom in on it, you would see a series, a ring of spikes, and it uses those spikes to invade human cells," Glanville said. "We've identified a series of super potent antibodies that block those spikes and therefore make the virus no longer infectious."
Glanville outlined the process, hoping to go toward human trial this summer. "Our next move is we hand this off to the U.S. military, a consortium from the Gates Foundation and some private groups . . ." (Read more)
- Father, we can only shout "HALLELUJAH" at this good news report! This is a DIRECT ANSWER to our prayer this week, that You would bring forth the "silver bullet" that would solve this crisis, once and for all. We praise Your Holy Name. and we ask for the speedy production of this new antibiotic, amen.
- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)
Praying for our Families
PRAYING FOR OUR FAMILIES AND MARRIAGES DURING THE CRISIS
Intercessors for America
Thursday, April 2, 2020
Father, we want to trust You for our future, our families, our health, and our attitudes. God you are a good God. Help us know the truth of who you are so we can trust You at this uncertain time. Family is a foundational-one of the three institutions God set up, as the Bible tells us. It is important to Him. It is also a critical and valuable part of any society.
As our nation has endured attacks on the family through the legalization of same-sex marriages and many challenges to parental rights with our children, is this quarantine an opportunity to further shake the family? How is COVID-19 affecting families on a practical level? How can we as the body of Christ intercede for families and marriages at this time?
Here are a few areas we felt led to pray about as it pertains to uplifting families in prayer:> > > To read these excellent prayer points, to help us find His peace in this time of turmoil, please go here.
THANK YOU, IFA!

Once each week, on Sunday mornings and for 24 hours, join with others in OPERATION RESTORATION . . .
"Operation Restoration"
This initiative is based upon the Move of the Spirit that was launched last month during Operation Refiner's Fire. The LORD has shown us that He has used those fires to ignite the FIRE of the HOLY SPIRIT to visit our people, which He now yearns to keep burning among our people until the day of His return!
"Operation Restoration" is based on the promise of Scripture, recorded in
2 Chronicles 7:14,15.
It is written:
. . . "and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
"Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place."
This is a weekly Solemn Assembly, where saints can feel free to gather each Sunday, to offer prayers of repentance before our Lord, for the many sins our nation has committed before Him.
Abba so desires to hear our prayers . . . He is just waiting to heal us!
You can join us, any Sunday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST by calling:
712-770-5350
Access Code: 150411#
Each week, our conference line for Operation Restoration will remain open until Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.EST -- allowing for 24 hours of nonstop prayer before our King of Kings, that He might, indeed, "heal our land." Amen.
