Rosh HaShana - 2020
THE DAY OF REPENTANCE
Friday, September 18, 2020
26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.
28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. (II Chronicles 29:26-28)

The Sound of the Shofar (I)
The Sound of the Shofar: Its Four Meanings
Tonight at sundown, Jews around the world will observe Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year, and the beginning of the Ten Days of Awe, leading into the fall feasts. Rosh Hashanah is ushered in with the sound of the Shofar.
Rosh Hashanah is a time of realigning, a time to reset and start again. Rosh Hashanah is followed by Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement, which will fall on October 8 this year.
Throughout these holy days, the shofar plays an important part in these fall feasts.
It is blown four different times and each time is for a different purpose.
The first shofar is blown on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and it is a call to AWAKEN our hearts to the Lord.
The second shofar is blown on the second morning of Rosh Hashanah and it is a call to RETURN to the Lord.
The third Shofar is blown on Yom Kippur and it is a call to REPENT.
The fourth Shofar is blown to begin the Feast of Tabernacles and it is a call to REJOICE.
Let us each set our hearts to "hear" the sounds of the four shofars, and to move through these next ten days accordingly: from AWAKENING, to RETURNING to the Lord, to REPENTANCE, and to REJOICING at the goodness of our God.
Shalom . . . shalom . . . shalom . . . and amen!
Shana Tova!

The Sound of the Shofar (II)
The Golden Report: THE SHOFAR
By Jerry Golden
When you find the word Trumpet or Trump, in the Bible, the Hebrew word is Shofar.
The blessings of God are many, and unfortunately many have been taken from the Church. Not only have the Holidays of God been replaced with pagan ones, but many of the joys of worship and praise as well. For those who discover these truths find great joy. I believe the Shofar is one such joy and expression of love and obedience to God and His Word that has been taken from us.
God blows the Shofar
God Himself blew the Shofar when Moses was on Mt. Sinai Ex. 19:16, and the voice of the Shofar exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. God will blow it Himself again at the coming of the Messiah, I-Thessalonians. 4:16, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with a trump (Shofar) of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. We also find in Zechariah 9:14 And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the Shofar and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
There is something about the blowing of the Shofar that has the ability to awaken the inner man, the door opens for the Holy Spirit to enter in. It provokes prayer like nothing else can:
- God tells us the shofar is to be used to call us to worship, and to praise Him for His salvation. (Psalm 98:6)
- God said to praise Him with the Shofar. Psalm 150:3)
- God says to use it as a call to worship.(II Chronicles 29:26-28)
- The Wall of Jericho came down when they blew the Shofars. (Joshua 6:4 -20)
- . . . and they held the lamps in their left hands, and the Shofars in their right hands to blow withal: (Judges 7:20)
- And the three hundred blew the Shofars, (Judges 7:22)
So we find in the Word, not only has God given us reason to blow the Shofar but He has set the example by blowing it for us on occasions and promises in I Corinthians 15:52.
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last Shofar: for the Shofar shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

Pondering Rosh HaShana-2020
Pondering Rosh HaShana - 2020
Today is Rosh HaShana here in Israel, beginning at sundown Sunday evening and we are ushering in the new year accordingly. The Hebrew word "Rosh," means "Head," and "Ha Shana" means "The Year," or "The Head of the Year!"
Rosh HaShana is symbolised by the blowing of the Shofar, or rams horn in the synagogues. It is also a time of reflection and remembering. In 1939, the year WW II began, there were 16 million Jews in the world.
The Jewish world population is still recovering from the loss of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, between 1939 and 1945. By the time Israel was founded in 1948, the Nazi genocide had reduced the number of Jews in the world to 11.5 million, ivor displays his Nazi concentration camp tattoo number including 650,000 living in the nascent Jewish state. Which means that 6% of world Jewry at the time lived in Israel, compared to 45% living here today.
As Israel prepared to celebrate its 71st anniversary this year, it is home to more Jews than any other country in the world - over 6.7 million. . . The world's population today is 7.7 billion people. That means that on September 29, 2019, Jews still represent less than 1% of the world's population. In fact, to be precise, Jews represent a fraction of 1% of the world's population today.
Thus, this leads one to ask the question?
How can a nation with less than 1% of the world's population, no great rivers, few natural resources, be one of the world's leading nations in hi-technology, second only to the US, and able to compete head to head with Silicon Valley? Ask yourself, how is it that Nobel Prizes have been awarded to over 900 individuals, incredibly at least 20% have been Jews, although the Jewish population comprises less than 1.0% of the world's population? How can the tiny nation of Israel have the second-largest number of startup companies in the world after the United States, and the third largest number of NASDAQ listed companies after the US and China?
One must ask why have Intel, Microsoft, and Apple all chosen to build their first overseas research and development facilities in Israel? Why have high-tech multi-national companies such as IBM, Google, HP, Cisco Systems, Facebook and Motorola all chosen to open R & D centres in Israel? Again, one must ask, how can a nation with less than 1% of the world's population become the first choice for many of world's leading entrepreneurs, investors, and industry giants?
How can Israel, in seventy one short years as a nation, create a strong educational infrastructure and high quality incubation system capable of developing new cutting edge ideas? How in seventy one short years was Israel able to create hundreds of startup company's capable of bringing to world markets high value goods and services? How has Israel in seventy one years become a nation capable of creating a high concentration of high-tech companies financially backed by a strong venture capital infrastructure?
How did this tiny nation become a world leader in the development of new medical technology and drugs, a leader in cyber security, the world's top developer of drones, a world leader in new start-up companies, create water from air, be in the forefront of new technology in water conservation, medical technology and treatment of diseases, as well as a world leader in life sciences?
Finally, after having fought three major wars, in 1948, 1967, 1973, and many other smaller wars in between, develop and grow, and flourish in the midst of all this conflict and strife?
The answer is found in four words!
The God of Israel!
Isaiah 41:8-14
"But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend, You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its remotest parts
And said to you, 'You are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.
'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' "Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non- existent.
"For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, 'Do not fear, I will help you.' Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you," declares the Lord, "and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel."

Honoring the Feasts of the Lord
Honoring the Feasts of the Lord
"And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts" (Leviticus 23:1, NKJV).
These are the eight feasts and celebrations of the Lord, and His holy convocations declared in Leviticus. They belong to Him and point to His first and second advents. Interestingly, the first holy assembly referenced is the Sabbath. The remaining seven festivals are seasonally divided into spring and fall. These include the Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Firstfruits (Resurrection Sunday), Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), Feast of Trumpets (Jewish Civil New Year), Day of Atonement, and Feast of Tabernacles.
We have previously discussed what each of these holy convocations represents and how they are fulfilled in Christ. In this teaching, we will discuss how these pertain to the church and not exclusively to Israel. And we will investigate how the Lord intends for us all to honor Him in celebrating these festivals. About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
