Today's Prayer Focus:
The D.C. Metro Police
[Editor's note: as we lay siege to the enemy that wants to bring chaos into our city, we continue to lift up all "those in authority," that they might be strengthened in this time.]
A Scripture to Decree
"They will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and He will be accompanied by His called and chosen and faithful ones." (Revelation 17:14)
Our Prayer Focus: Entering In
Our Prayer Focus:
Preparing our Hearts to Enter Into the Closet of Prayer
Even before the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the uprisings of the BLM movement, our D.C. Metropolitan Police had had their hands full.
Sadly, Washington, D.C. has one of the highest crime rates in the nation. The gang wars have continued on our streets nonstop, and nearly every day, one of our citizens -- including children -- are slain by a stray bullet.
With this background . . . enter in the riots we now see on our TV screens. [Please see below for two special reports on this issue.]
In the midst of all of this chaos, the City Council recently recommended that the funding of our police force be reduced!
Enough is enough!
Let's all pause today and lift up the men and women who serve in our police force in prayer, thanking God for their faithful service to the people who live in our city.
Today's Prayer
Today's Prayer for the D.C. Metropolitan Police
"Father God, today we lift up before Your Throne of Grace those who serve in the D.C. Metropolitan Police Force. Lord God, we recognize the tremendously difficult job they have been given these past few months, attempting to maintain and/or to restore order on the streets of our city.
First, Lord, we do ask that Your Hand of protection would rest strongly upon those who wear these uniforms, now and always. We ask, too, that Your grace would be sufficient for all of their needs.
We ask an unusual, God-given ability for each one to know, when confronted by evil, how and when to respond, amen. If there be any on the force who make an error in judgment, we ask that he or she be identified quickly so that justice can be served.
We thank You for Police Chief Peter Newsham, and we ask that You grant him unusual wisdom in leading this force, and in the face of an expected reduction in budget in coming days.
And finally, Father God, we thank You for President Trump who stands firmly behind these "men in blue." The President has pledged to do all he can to support the work they are doing, so that Washington, D.C. remains the national treasure it has always been, and so that those who live here, work here, or visit here, can remain safely protected.
We ask all of this in Your Mighty Name, amen and amen."
A Song for Today
HE GIVETH MORE GRACE
"He giveth more grace." (James 4:6)
He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Praise Reports and Prayer Needs
1. Two Praise Reports
a. The National March on Washington - a Peaceful Demonstration!
Yesterday's National March on Washington brought an estimated 50,000 people to the Mall in what proved to be, indeed, a peaceful demonstration. Families of all races and colors joined in a day to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to cast a common vision for the future of healing race relations in America.
We want to thank you, our readers, for your prayers over this event . . . they have "availed much!"
b. God Sends a Downpour!
Unfortunately, shortly after the march ended, D.C. police warned of riots to follow. Late in the day, many stores in our downtown began boarding up and sending their employees home, concerned about this anticipated rioting to follow.
Suddenly however, late in the day, a series of severe and possibly dangerous storms hit the city, sending people fleeing. The downpours were so severe that many people simply gave up and went home. The rioting, if any, was minimal, and our God saved the day and spared the city!
Once again, your prayers "availed much!"
2. A prayer request
Sadly, on Thursday night, following the President's triumphant speech, dangerous rioting did break out around the White House, with the lives of some of those who attended endangered! Please see two reports, below, following our prayer request.
- Father God, as those who are now standing against the SIEGE in Washington, D.C., we ask that You grant us the grace to do so effectively. We repent that we did not raise up a greater alarm on Thursday night, and we ask that You would awaken us in coming days when we see danger at the door. Thank You, Abba, for keeping all safe, in spite of the extreme level of violence that broke out near the White House that night. We praise You, O God, in Your name, amen.

What is "The Siege?"
Radical activist group plans to "lay siege to" and "occupy" White House in September
The radical activist group that takes credit for the #OccupyWallStreet movement in 2011 has announced plans to occupy the White House next month. Adbusters, a digital publication that describes itself as "a global network" determined to "advance the new social activist movement of the information age," issued a post dubbed "#WhiteHouseSiege - Tactical Briefing #1."
"It's been nine years since we set off the political earthquake of #OccupyWallStreet, laying siege to NYC's Zuccotti Park and inspiring thousands of similar protests around the world," the post reads. "The Occupy anniversary arrives September 17th, 2020. And it may be the perfect day to trigger another global big-bang moment - a massive collective action of the sweetest kind of disobedience."
"It's time again for dramatic, decisive action. Which is why, on September 17th, in the original and enduring spirit of Occupy, we and tens of thousands of our fellow citizens will stream into Lafayette Square, in Washington. D.C," the post continued. "We will lay siege to the White House. And we will sustain it for exactly 50 days. This is the #WhiteHouseSiege."
Our Response:
Our strategy
In confronting this enemy, we will follow Christ's example. Accordingly, every day for the next 40 days, we will join forces with prayer points, Scriptures, and worship to confront the enemy at the gates and to render him null and void.
We will begin now, and end on Sunday, September 20, just after the siege of the enemy has begun. BUT. by the grace of GOD, the enemy will instead find a big surprise at that gate: the LOVE OF JESUS, with His Hands extended towards each one, waiting to welcome them home.
By marshallng our forces in advance, just as was done this month in Austin, Texas, the plans of the enemy will be routed and OUR GOD WILL REIGN on the streets of Washington, D.C.!
Please note . . .
When lifting up prayer about these "enemy troops," our intercession is in fact aimed towards the forces in the heavenlies that are holding them captive!
It is written:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12)
"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." (Ephesians 6:13)
Let us now stand together, dressed in the full armor of God in this evil day, at the gate of the highest authority in this land, praying for our nation, our President, and our upcoming elections.
In His Amazing Grace, we invite all of you to join us as we LAY SIEGE TO THE SIEGE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
