Hints to help you be prepared and proactive against viral threats

Dealing with COVID-19, means that you must be careful of being infected by the airborne droplets containing the virus and surface (which will come from sneezing or coughing) … or by these droplets that land on surfaces from touch transfer, or landing on them from a sneeze or cough.  Careful hand washing and the use of effective hand sanitizer is important.  An example of a 24 hours hand sanitizer is:

A proper face mask … perhaps beyond the usual N95 type … will be important. Many masks have a short lifetime (sometimes needing to be replaced within less than two week). Choose one that can have an extended life when stored in a glass jar, when you aren’t using it.  An example of such a mask is:

(Keep in mind that it would be good to obtain a mask/s now, rather than wait until an epidemic breaks out. Masks could quickly become scarce. Be careful not to over-buy to the point of hoarding; denying others of an opportunity to obtain one. If the high-quality masks sell out, the less fancy N95 masks can offer you protection.)

Given that this virus can travel through the air and infect through contacting the eyes (from spewed droplets, or if you touch a surface sitting virus and then touch your own face or eyes), if might be good to have eye protection … through protective glasses. The small swimmers goggles used in swimming competitions could be very helpful.

Be sure to have proper anti-viral cleaning agents in your home, and first aid anti-virals:

**Lysol disinfectant spray, surface wipes, etc.

**Laundry disinfectant

**Chlorine bleach

**Tea Tree oil

**Oil of Oregano

Natural anti-viral agents that may help keep you healthy against viral attacks

(Note: some of these natural substances may not be effective against COVID-19, but they can strengthen your immune system, and defeat other viruses that may make you more susceptible to the corona virus.

COLLOIDAL SILVER:  a suspension of pure metallic silver in water that combats viruses by blocking out the enzymes that enable viruses to utilize oxygen; causing the viruses to suffocate and die.  Available on-line, and in health stores.

BLACK ELDERBERRY: Commonly known as Sambucus nigra, black elderberry has a long, proven history of being effective in reducing the length and severity of flu symptoms and other viruses. The daily dosage of 60 ml a day for adults, and 30 ml for children, often brings a recovery, or vast improvement, in about 3 days. The elderberry extract (in syrup, in tablet, or in lozenge) binds to the spikey projections found on proteins of a virus that are used to puncture healthy cells, and which enable the viruses to invade and destroy them. In essence the black elderberry makes the attack of the virus ineffective. Available in drug stores, on-line, and in health food stores.

ECHINACEA: The readily available herb, Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea), boosts the immune system and has an effective anti-viral ability against colds and viral bronchitis. Preparations that include both the roots and the flowering tops are the most beneficial preparations of this herb for helping the body to build up an ability to resist viruses. Commonly taken as tea or as capsules.

GARLIC: Garlic has been an effectively-used and acclaimed anti-viral agent for many, many generations. Its compounds of allicin and alliion are the reason that garlic is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and also anti-fungal. While it’s difficult to chew and hold a raw piece of garlic in your mouth, this is an especially powerful application to use against powerful or enduring respiratory viruses. It’s wise to keep fresh garlic on hand (it’s even possible to grow in a window garden), but when that is not possible, high quality garlic pills or capsules can also be effective.

GREEN TEA: Green tea (Camellia sinensis) contains a group of flavonoids called catechins. In addition to providing a hydrating and soothing effect on the throat, green tea has the reputation of inhibiting viral infections by blocking the enzymes that enable viruses to grow and reproduce.

LICORICE:  Licorice contains a substance called glycyrrhizin that reduces the ability of viruses to penetrate and to replicate within healthy cells. It limits the life and effectiveness of viruses.

OLIVE LEAF: The leaves of Olive trees (Olea europea) contain what is called elenoic acid and calcium elongate, which serve as a powerful inhibitor of a wide range of viruses. These substances again block the production of enzymes that allow viruses to replicate (reproduce and multiply).

ST JOHN’S WORT:  St John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is effective in combating depression and neuralgia, but it also has powerful antiviral chemicals called hypercin and pseudohypericin. These tricky little substances fight off viruses that stay alive by imitating existing cells through “cloaking”. These viruses that impersonate human cells are “busted” by the chemicals in st John’s wort.

EFFECTIVE ANTI-INFLAMATORY SUBSTANCES TO HAVE ON HAND to combat viral attacks:

Turmeric: sprinkle in food, take in capsules, or make a tea

Cayenne pepper:  add to food or make a tincture to a drop or two to a beverage, like coffee

Ginger:   fresh or powdered (fresh is best) … makes a great tea

Cinnamon:  wonderful in tea, or added to food … mixed with honey and lemon it’s powerful

Clove:  add to food or make a tea

Black pepper:  add to food or take in capsules.

Make preparations to be quarantined in your home or neighborhood for up to a month is a true epidemic breaks out.  Have a month’s supply of food stored in your home, and be prepared to share it and see the Lord multiply it, as you are used to provide comfort to the unprepared. Have a supply of water available as well.  If you require med, whether over the counter or MD prescribed, see if you can arrange to have enough to get you through a month.

If you have pets, be aware that you will need to have a supply of food for them. If you have small children, prepare with extra diapers, baby food, etc.

Have a “bug out” bag ready with essentials in it, if you are suddenly required to evacuate your area. (containing such things as extra cash, meds, travel food, vital papers/records, a map, and contact numbers). Have a plan in place … set a meeting place, or a communication system established in the event that you are separated from loved ones for a while.

Print out Psalm 91 and pray it daily. Memorize it and share it. No fear … no panic! Walk in faith, knowing that the Lord is fully in charge and totally with you.
